Oh brother…

Now the word is that the Ford plant in South Chicago will be laying off almost 800 jobs very soon.

This happens when there are no buyers for the cars that they are making.  The info I’ve heard is that the plant will cancel a shift which will idle those workers.

I’ve got friends who are retirees from ford and I’m hoping that this downturn (nosedive?) in the economy doesn’t hit their pensions.

From the Southtown Star:

Larry Walsh, Will county executive, is in Provena St. Joseph in Joliet after being admitted after complaining of chest pains.

He had been in the midst of his schedule when he felt ill.  His private physician recommended that he go to the hospital and get checked out.

It was confirmed that he did not have a heart attack, however he was still in the hospital for more tests today.

We hope that he’s doing better and will be home very soon.
