Microsoft admits screwup
After they laid off people for the first time in their history, Microsoft screwed up royally with the severance payments. They paid some too much and some too little.
It’s not the too little folks. They got additional checks and an explanation. It’s the too much folks that caused the issue when a letter sent out from Microsoft saying that they wanted the overage repaid in two weeks hit the Net that things got uncomfortable.
According to an AP story, Microsoft VP Lisa Brummel said that the company will not seek repayment. "I decided that it didn’t quite feel right", Brummel said in an interview.
Yeah, and if that letter hadn’t hit Techcrunch, betcha M$’s lawyers would have gone after those people. Heck, they may still try. This bears watching.
