A word of warning on Dell LCD monitors
Well, I knew it would happen sooner or later.
If you happen to have a Dell LCD monitor, don’t be too shocked if you find a padlock on your screen and alternately opens and closes.
that’s the OSD lock and it’s FUBARd! Great engineering, Dell! Anyhow, there ARE some fixes, but some are rather long and boring. This one seems to work more often than not:
Go to the control panel (start, settings, control panel) and then click on display. Now this is important. change the resolution to the highest that the computer will let you do, click apply and then OK.
Go and chage the resolution back to what it was and again, click on apply and then OK. If it doesn’t take the first time, do it again.
This should take out the padlock. Oh, DON’T TOUCH THE BUTTONS ON THE MONITOR!!!!! Do that and guess what comes back and, this time, may not be so easy to remove.
