Watching the LLWS Final.
Hawaii leads Mexico 10-3 in the 5th. WOW!
EDIT: congrats to the Hawaii team on winning the LLWS World Championship!
In a series marked by several upsets, the biggest one seems to be the victory by Mexico over Japan, 5-4, in the international final.
In the US final, Lake Charles, LA beat Hawaii.
So, the World Championship will be:
Mexico vs. Lake Charles LA.
EDIT: Apparently, my source for the US Championship was wrong. Hawaii is playing Mexico for the world championship.
Matthias Steiner from Germany won the super heavyweight weightlifting competition with a lift of 568 pounds.
His celebration after doing it is something to behold. This video is still shots but you should get the idea.
BTW…the picture that he holds is of his wife who died before the games. He did it for her.
Misty May-Trainor and Kerri Walsh have won their second Gold Medal and be the ONLY beach volleyball team to REPEAT as gold medal winners.
They pulled it off in straight sets.
Well, now that the swimming is done and the gymnastics are completed, what else is there? Volleyball, indoor and beach, track and field, basketball. etc.
Looks like the BB men are doing their job and are redeeming themselves after Athens. The women are rolling along as well. Perhaps double gold in basketball? We’ll see. Kerri Walsh and Misty May-Trainor are getting it done in beach volleyball. Those two are a machine. WOW.
Not sure where we stand in track and field ’cause I haven’t checked.
*grin*
Again, congrats to the women gymnasts, especially our all-around champ, Nastia Liukin and Shawn Johnson. Good going, ladies!!!!
More later.
My god, he really IS a fish. My hat’s off to Micheal Phelps and his teammates in winning the gold for the 4×100 medley relay. Jason Lesak proved that he was not the weak link.
WOO-HOO! 8 Gold medals. NO ONE has ever done that…..EVER.
Check this out!
Scott Kalitta, 46, was killed today during qualifications at the Supernationals at Englishtown NJ.
My own personal sympathies and prayers go out to Scott’s family, his dad Connie and their crews.
May god welcome him into Paradise
EDIT
Here’s a link the NHRA web site with a nice tribute page to Scott.
Okay, let me preface this a little. The Chicago Sun-Times had a contest for best video to express “Zell No! - Don’t rename Wrigley field”.
Well, the winner is, of all people, a TRIBUNE intern!!! The video’s on YouTube but hey, for my fans, here it is, a remix of Twisted Sister’s “We’re Not Going To Take It”
Check it out.
Congratulations to the Indiana HS Football champions!
