Ald. Ike Carruthers of the 29th Ward, was indicted along with developer Calvin Boender.  The charges: Carrathurs accepted $40.000 in imporvements to this residence along with trips and sporting event tickets in exchange for his backing aproject of Boender’s.

Wotta idiot!

And speaking of idiots, Carlos Zambrano got a 6 game suspension for bumping umpire Mark Carlson as well as throwing his glove atthe dugout fence, throwing the ball into left field and then demolishing the Gatorade dispenser in the dugout.  Still, he’ll only miss one start, but it’s gonna cost him money, as well as a long chat with manager Lou Pinella.

Today, I ran across an article that shocked me no end.

One of the nicest people on the PGA tour got extremely serious news when his wife was diagnosed with breast cancer.

A man in Mishawaka IN died after being hit in the neck by a slo-pitch softball.  He was sliding into home when he was hit below his left ear.  He tried to getup but then collapsed.

I’m as cynical a guy as you can find.  BUT..

There comes along a story that everyone covered about a boy named Jason McElwain.  Diagnosed autistic when you was  a toddler, Jason was the manager for the Greece Athena HS varsity BB team,,,until the last game of the season.   The best piece done to cover this story was done by ESPN.  Here it is.  We all need a story like this to restore our faith in out fellow man.

Word came out last night that Johnny "Red" Kerr, the first coach the Bulls had and, for 33 years, the radio/TV commentator for the Bulls, passed away after a long fight with prostate cancer.

Red was honored at the United Center recently with the lifetime achievement award from the Pro Basketball Hall of Fame.  I hope that Red will be inducted into the Hall.  It is a shame that this honor was not given to him while he lived.
